First impressions of the eSlick eBook reader

The fellers over at GearDiary purchased an eSlick eBook reader, a small and relatively attractive ebook reader that was announced before the Kindle 2.

While they like the design and size, the Kindle’s Whispernet is really a key

feature missing in all of these other readers. Love it or hate it, the ability to download books is a pretty compelling feature for all but the most die-hard pirates. While it’s easy to find PDFs of public domain stuff and some popular fiction and non-fiction, hitting a button to buy a book over the air in the US is great.

Sadly, this same experience can’t really be replicated in Europe, where I am now, so things like the eSlick are pretty cool.
